1. Secure an internship placement and complete 100 hours before the end of winter quarter
A list of placements can be found here: http://www.seniorsequence.net/index.php/ipl/list/ (you’ll need the username and password Professor Pezzoli announced in class)
To apply for one of these internship/action research opportunities, you need to communicate with the “contact person” listed on the form at the link above. In reaching out to this contact person, please follow this protocol (unless their instructions say otherwise on the form they submitted into our internship database):
Via email or hard copy, submit to the contact person:
(a) A Cover letter (one page max, pdf format).
Introduce yourself, indicate what you are applying for, outline why their particular internship position interests you (i.e., why do you want to work with them?)—and spell out why you are the right person to fill that position (i.e., outline your qualifications/skills, attach/refer to your resume). Also give them a character reference (i.e., a person they can contact who knows you professionally). Finally, tell them that you will follow up the email with a phone call.(b) Your Resume (two pages max, pdf format).
2. Document the completion of your internship requirement
(a) Upload an internship contract into the “My Internship” section of your portfolio (pdf format). You fill this contract out together with your supervisor. It must be signed by you, your supervisor and me. A copy of the contract can be downloaded here: Internship_contract.pdf If you get an interview, bring one of these contracts with you. It is likely that you’ll get selected on the spot (at your interview) and you can use that time to complete the contract together.
(b) Complete all parts of the “My Internship” part of your research portfolio—this includes details about the placement, a progress report and a final evaluation of the experience from your perspective.
(c) Secure an evaluation from your internship supervisor, get it signed (by you and the supervisor), and upload a copy of it into your My Internship file (pdf format). A copy of the evaluation form can be downloaded here: Supervisor_evaluation_form.pdf
