Sprawl and Congestion: Revisiting Smart Growth Concepts and Innovative Transportation Policies

Overview

This senior research project team comprises of individuals interested in smart growth and transportation policies that aims to mitigate the effects of urban sprawl.  The purpose of this team is to collaborate and familiarized with one another on the different issues surrounding sprawl. The team will serve as a support group for assistance in data and literature collection, draft editing, learning technical programs including geographic informative systems (GIS) and gathering relevant resources such as scheduling professional interview. While each project among the team members differ in topic, they all seek to bring new perspective on sprawl and introduce new and innovative ways to combat it. The final product will show case these findings, overarching the topic of road pricing, high-occupancy toll/ bus rapid transit alternative, and smart growth policy evaluations. This will be presented at the UCSD Urban Studies and Planning Urban Expo in March 2011.
