The Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC), as a part of the San Diego Redevelopment Agency, is proud to offer this Call for Papers solicitation for "Sustainable Best Practice Design Solutions for Urban Buildings, Open Spaces, and the Public Realm in Dense Urban Settings." This effort is in collaboration with the San Diego Chapters of the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Urban Land Institute.
CCDC seeks to provide Honor and Merit Awards to the best of these papers and to invite the authors to present there work during the San Diego Green Conference on September 18, 2008. Further CCDC in collaboration with our professional association partners intends to publish the top ranked paper in one or more professional publications.
These specific urban green solutions should relate in some fashion to the USGBC's LEED-ND category but with the intent of creating more focused criteria that could be differentiated and incorporated into a category for Urban Design. Architectural educators, practitioners, engineers, and other professional colleagues are encouraged to submit papers. Please view the CCDC Website for the Call for Papers and to learn more about San Diego. http://www.ccdc.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/events.ShowEvent/eventID/990
The call for papers is organized around four key tracks of sustainable development as interdependent, connecting, and critical to the creation of San Diego's sustainable future:
