CCDC discusses plan for downtown open spaces

The Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) held a public meeting Tuesday evening to discuss the use of downtown’s parks and open spaces.
“Public open space is really, if not the most important, one of the most important issues we are dealing with at CCDC right now,” said Brad Richter, assistant vice president of planning for CCDC.
With help from civil engineers, economists, park maintenance workers and utilities engineers, CCDC is in the process of putting together the Downtown San Diego Public Open Space Implementation Plan, which should be finalized in early 2012. The plan would add 52 acres of open space to the 2.2 square miles of downtown San Diego. CCDC invited residents to see how the agency hopes to implement these ideas at the public meeting Tuesday.
