October 1 - October 22: Rebuild San Diego’s “Project Find” Design Competition
Due to the increasing amount of volunteers and their interest in helping out with Rebuild, they’re inviting you all to participate in a design competition titled ‘Project Find’. They’re challenging all you socially responsible designers and creative individuals who have a vested interest in our community to seek out projects that protect our planet.
Tuesday, October 20: Pecha Kucha Night V.IV, held at Woodbury University and hosted by former a former presenter; the ever-engaging Dave Brown of Holiday Matinee.
Tuesday, November 10: Council of Design Professionals and SDAF present esteemed urban theorist Leon Krier. Krier’s polemic lecture will be held at 6:30 PM at the Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theater. RSVP required and tickets are $10 for the general public and free to members of the SDCDP and SDAF. A private reception for SDCDP and SDAF members will follow the lecture. Thursday, November 12: 2009 Orchids & Onions Awards Ceremony held at On Broadway. Emceed by Barbarella, and insightfully commentated by Architect/Developer Graham Downes.
Like we said, this is but a mere sampling. Be on the lookout for news about additional upcoming events such as an “Inside the Architect’s Studio” event featuring the legendary Bob Mosher, a round table discussion hosted by the Academy of Neurosciences for Architecture, and of course, the launch of the new SDAF website.
