Redevelopment in San Diego

Speak out Oct. 10 on redevelopment priorities!

San Diego's redevelopment agencies are reeling from scandals and personnel changes, and a third agency may be in the works.  Now's the time to make sure the redevelopment process really benefits the people who live in our neighborhoods.

At an open forum on Friday, Oct. 10, the public will have a chance to speak out: How can we make sure redevelopment puts people first?

The forum is sponsored by CPI along with the League of Women Voters, Citizens Coordinate for Century 3 (C3) and the MAAC Project.  Supporting organizations include the Affordable Housing Coalition of San Diego, the San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP), and Common Cause.

State Senator Christine Kehoe
will be the opening speaker, explaining how redevelopment is supposed to work under state law to improve economically blighted areas.  Other speakers will describe the problems in San Diego, followed by questions and group discussions.

The forum is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 10, at the War Memorial Building on Park Blvd., in Balboa Park just north of the zoo.  Parking is free in the zoo lot.
