UCSD’s Urban Studies and Planning Program needs internship placements for 80 undergraduate seniors.

PLEASE PROVIDE AN INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITY, HERE’S HOW:

1. Fill out one of our UCSD Urban Studies and Planning Program’s Internship Placement Form. Click here to access the form:  http://www.seniorsequence.net/index.php/ipl/

*You’ll need a username and password to access the online form—if you didn’t get it via email already, contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and he will give it to you. Be sure to fill out all the required fields on the form or you will get an error message asking you to go back and do so. Best to prepare your answers in advance and cut/paste them in.

2. Submit the online form. Hopefully your opportunity will attract one or more students. If so, the student(s) will provide you with a resume and seek an interview.  You can see what you posted at this link:  http://www.seniorsequence.net/index.php/ipl/list/  (requires the same username and password you used to create your entry). Students begin shopping for internship positions in late September.

3. If all goes well and you accept a student suitable for your position, then you and your student intern must complete and sign a contract specifying the positions responsibilities, including any special requirements and expectations. The student is responsible for getting this form to the course professor. To download the contract, click here: (Internship_contract.pdf).

*If for any reason you cannot fill out the placement listing form online, then you can download a hard copy here: (Internshiip_placement_description_2011.pdf). Fill out the hard copy and submit it to Professor Pezzoli before Sept. 16, 2011 via one of these methods:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

USP seniors are required to complete 100 hours of internship service between September 2011 and March 2012. Students typically work 10 hours per week for ten weeks. The internship component of the USP major is part of an intensive, six-month long (fall-winter) field research practicum called the Senior Sequence. Our students learn how to design and conduct use-inspired, problem-solving and solutions oriented research. Students also learn how to communicate their results with the public using multimedia. Their work goes on display (posters and video) at our well-attended annual Urban Expo. Our interns are well trained, highly motivated, and especially eager to get hands-on practical experience.

Details about our USP program can be found on line at: http://usp.ucsd.edu/
